Cuvette Integrity Check in Clinical Chemistry Analyzers | Accuracy & Precision - Part 8

As we have discussed in “Part 7” of these blogs, majority of fully automatic clinical chemistry analyzers having throughput of 200, 400, 800 tests / hour, are equipped with permanent cuvettes and on-board washing station. Analyzers also having many routine, special and advance wash protocols for reaction cuvette like DI water wash, special wash, detergent wash, pre-wash, post wash and wash program to reduce interference of reagents.

In high throughput analyzers, reaction cuvettes are washed and reused many times. So, it is very important to check whether reaction cuvettes are washed properly or not. As little stain on cuvette walls or any scratches will reduce accuracy & precision of test results.

As discussed in Part-4 of these blogs, Advance clinical chemistry analyzers are equipped with “Static Photometer”. This static photometer can take readings of all cuvettes with all filters in each cycle for “Cuvette Integrity Check”. i.e. 800 tests / hour clinical chemistry analyzer offered by Beacon Group is having 160 cuvettes, 12 filters and cycle time of 09 seconds. So, it can take 1920 readings (160 x 12) at every 09 seconds.
