Static Photometer in Clinical Chemistry Analyzer: Improving Accuracy, Precision & Speed

As we have discussed in part 4 of this blog, traditional photometer (having moving parts like filter wheel) is having many dis-advantages, as mentioned below.

· Traditional photometer is having more maintenance due to presence of moving parts like filter wheel.

· Due to moving parts, it is not possible to completely close the photometer. So, dust and humidity enter inside photometer, get deposited on filters (and lenses) in order to reduce filter’s life.

· Accuracy & precision of photometer’s light is also compromised due to deposition of dust on filter.

· For every new test, filter wheel has to move and change the filter, which makes analyzer slow in taking readings.

As discussed in part-4, new “Static Photometer” is not having all above mentioned disadvantages because it doesn’t have any moving parts, which makes it possible to completely close the photometer. So, dust and humidity can’t enter inside the photometer.

Apart from it, “Static Photometer” is having few more advantages as mentioned below.

In “Static Photometer”, all filters are fixed in a straight line and photometer is designed in such a way that it can take readings of all cuvettes with all filters, in each cycle.

So, static photometer is having many advantages like longer life of filters, ensure accurate and precise light of photometer for longer period of time, less maintenance & take readings at tremendously high speed without compromising on quality of readings.
